DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CELEBRATION

The City Events and Recognitions Committee would like to invite you to participate in the filming of the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration segment interviews. These segments will be shown at the January 15th Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. The theme for this year’s event is, “A Community Blueprint: Building Block by Block” and will reference Dr. King’s speech, “What Is Your Life’s Blueprint?”.

The goal is to represent each district of Tacoma through four segments shown throughout the celebration. We are gathering representation from each district to include Tacoma City Council Members, business owners, neighborhood citizens, youth, and community organizers who would like to speak on what makes them a building block of their community and what their blueprint looks like for them.

Question that you’ll be asked:

1. What inspires you most about Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream?

2. How do you put Dr. King’s dream into action?

3. How do you think we can make a brighter tomorrow for Tacoma?

4. What is in your life’s blueprint?

There will be four available dates with windows of time to participate. This will largely be an open-door policy, but if you would like to schedule a date and time, we would be happy to hold a slot - email us here. The interview will only require about 15 minutes to film.

Filming will take place inside Court House Square at 1102 A St, Tacoma, WA 98402.
